Principles:

  • Just as the IWW preamble states, the boss class and the working class have nothing in common, and the landlord class and the working class have nothing in common either.
  • We are against class collaboration between bosses, landlords, and the working class. Unlike nonprofits operating around housing, we do not seek a common understanding with landlords, nor do we place blame on working families struggling to afford housing costs.
  • Housing is a necessity of life and as such should not be commodified nor should profit be derived from it. Our aim is housing for all and with it the abolition of evictions and homelessness.
  • Social housing must be democratically administered by worker-tenants themselves, not by unelected property managers serving the interests of the landlord class.
  • Homelessness and housing shortages can be resolved immediately through the placement of working families into any vacant residential units regardless of ownership.
  • All legal reforms must comply with the long term goal of universal housing, including rent freezes, eviction bans, rent reductions, the construction of public housing, rational urban planning to mitigate costs of living on working families, and worker-tenant control of housing units.
